Letting Lips Vibrate, Playing Softly, Long Gestures, Timing | NEW DAY, NEW CHOPS (May 10, 2026)

This is the first video in an attempt at a new series. Years ago, I used to tell myself “new day, new chops” as a way of keeping each practice day fresh. Fast forward to a few days ago: I decided to record some of my daily practice in that spirit, with no starting plan for what I was going to say or do.

With this video and any that follow, I’m not interested in showing the “right way” to play trumpet. My goal is to show the process of listening and thinking, wherever it leads. I’ve included the messy bits as much as possible while trying to keep it concise and fun.

This is much for myself as for anyone who might find value in it, and I’d like to keep making these, time and energy permitting. Hopefully someone finds it useful!
